HVAR
       KORČULA         VIS         BISEVO
HVAR

h2.jpgThe city of Hvar is unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich cultural and historical heritage and therefore a magnetic tourist destination.

Picturesque nature surrounding town has given Hvar its  Mediterranean attraction and cheerfulness. Facing sea and south gave Hvar its splendid and inexhaustible treasury of the scenery, atmosphere and adventure.

Its name derives from the Greek name - PHAROS, the name that was given to a town which was situated where today's town of Starigrad stands (Hvar became an island's centre in 13th century).

Hvar gained glory and power during middle ages being an important port within the Venetian, naval empire. Today, it is centre of island's tourism and one of the favourite destinations in Dalmatian riviera - a town of smiling and courteous people, who are mostly dedicated to tourism.

The Island and Town of Korčula
korcula.jpg The island of Korčula is one of the biggest and most populated islands of Dalmatia, the Mediterranean region situated in the Adriatic sea. It has a surface of 276 square km; Korčula is 46,8 km long with the wides part being 7,8 km. The east side of the island is only 1270 m far from the land and peninsula Pelješac, whilst the west side ranges deeply into the Adriatic Sea. There are 50 smaller islets along its shore . The island is built of limestone with its highest peak of 568 m (Klupca). The majority of inhabitants live of tourism and agriculture (vines, olive-trees, vegetables and citrus fruits). A minor part makes their living by sailing around the seas of the world (maritime and shipbuilding are traditions of the whole region).

The town of Korcula, situated on the eastern border of the island, is an architectural example of excellently preserved, medieval, magnificent town. It is built on an islet of 3 hectares, later linked with the land of the island. Currently it counts around 1.500 inhabitants, whose main economic orientation is tourism (around 3000 sunny hours per year).

 VIS
vis-bay.jpgIsland Vis, the beauty of limpid waters and protected submarine world rich with sunken ships and magic marine images that have been hidden for years.

Relax on secluded beaches of numerous peaceful bays, in transparent blue sea and under the hot sun of Vis. Spend your time in historic ambience of mediaeval cities of Vis and Komiža that echo the voices of "a cappella" singers and visits the unavoidable Archaeological Museum and Museum of Fisheries.

  BISEVO

The small island (5.8 sq. kilometres) about five kilometres south west from Vis, with the highest point Strazenica (240 meters). The central part is fertile field while the rest of the island is covered with macchia (short trees and bushes) or rocks. On the north of the island there is a pine forest. The settlements on the island are: Potok, Polje, Nevaja, Mezuporat and Salbunara.

There are a few caves on the island, out of which Modra Spilja (the Blue Cave) is the most famous. Around noon, when the sea is calm, sunbeams that penetrate through the submarine opening in the Blue Cave, reflect from the white bottom floor and color the cave in blue and objects in the water in silver. The cave is accessible since 1884, and approach is possible only by boat. The coastal sea belt is rich fishing area.

There are few mostly uninhabited small islands in the vicinity: Jabuka, Svetac, Palagruza. On some of them there is only a light-house and some are used only for sheep pasture or fishing.
